Caring for Dry Skin

In a nutshell our suggested approach for Dry Skin is as follows:

1) Choose the most gentle cleanser appropriate for your needs

2) Exfoliate intelligently:  avoid using a normal scrub or anything abrasive that may damage even more cells and cause flaking . TARGET only damaged cells by using our toners. Exfoliation performed properly will enable your moisturiser to adhere better, and will also allow make up to look better.

3) Moisturise as often as required

4) There are a number of treatment products that help dry skin

5) Avoid too much Retin A as it can dry out the skin

6) If you have dry skin that has blemishes please click here

Cleansing:
It is important to use the most gentle, non drying cleansers.

Toning:

Many people find that their skins become drier after outdoor holidays and as they become older. This is often due to an excess of damaged or dead cells layering the surface of the skin. It is essential to remove these cells in the most effective and gentle way, in order that the natural oils can reach the surface of the skin again, without causing inflammation (which in turn causes ageing). A smooth surface also allows moisturisers to adhere better. Our toners are given their name due to the stage they occupy in the cleanse, tone, moisturise routine, and are actually incredibly effective exfoliators. Unlike traditional abrasive exfoliators, ours require only to be wiped across the face, and this alone will target all dead and damaged cells. More traditional exfoliation methods require a fair amount of abrasive activity and whilst they are not nearly as effective, they can damage good skin cells.

The AHA Toner: Dry Skin is highly recommended

Moisturiser:
You can use any of the moisturisers
Protective Day Cream
Nourish & Repair Night Cream
Cell Repair & Renewal Cream (can be used day & night) this cream can be used as your normal moisturiser or can be used as a one-off if your skin requires a bit of a boost after an outdoor holiday.

If your skin is very sensitive, try the Men's Aftershave Balm , very popular with both men and women with sensitive or problem skin, as a Day Cream.

Treatment:
Plant Serum is a perfect product for dry skins. Not only can it be used around the eye area, but it can also be used as a regenerative boost. Cleanse, tone & apply the Plant Serum in the evening once or twice a week. You can tissue off any excess, although most people with dry skin will find that it is absorbed and they can add a layer of moisturiser before they go to bed. It can also be used on the chest or added to a plain aqueous cream and used all over the body. It also helps prevent scarring, if applied early enough.

Skin Food
