This product helps you to stimulate the collagen and elastin in your skin in order to help improve the appearance of wrinkles. As it is so concentrated, it must be used with caution.

How does the Fruit Acid Concentrate work?

After about 12 weeks the skin starts to adapt to the concentration of the AHAs in the toner. All the spent cells will have been destroyed.  As the cells at the surface are in optimum condition and there are no more cells to terminate, the intensity of cell turnover is reduced. The stimulation of collagen and elastin is also therefore reduced. If you are treating advanced wrinkles, you need to continue stimulation of collagen and elastin in order that the wrinkles diminish. The only alternative to accepting a lesser action from the toner is to strengthen the AHA concentration in the toner.

How to use Fruit Acid Concentrate:

After using the appropriate toner for your skin for approximately 12 weeks, you can start adding a drop of the concentrate to the toner on the dampened cotton wool. This effectively strengthens the toner. Start by using just 1 drop every few days, and increase very slowly until you are using the extra drop every day. You may eventually increase to 2 and eventually 3 drops.

How do you know when to increase?

One way to tell when the fruit acids are working is if after toning your skin (and before your hydrate or moisturise) you run your hand over it and if it feels a little rough, the toner is working. This is called desquamation. Don’t increase use whilst you can still feel this—it won’t work as a quick fix and your skin may just start to peel unattractively.

If the skin starts stinging, you are applying too much. Stinging leads to inflammation, and can cause pigmentation and also ageing.

Remember: Strengthening the toner is only necessary if treating wrinkles. The original toner formula is adequate in order to optimise skin turnover.

Caution: Never apply the product repeatedly, or beyond the first stinging sensation. Never apply to inflamed skin except blemishes. Use an appropriate sunscreen when using this product. Avoid the eyes.
